Plano West Senior Pictures by Flower Mound Photographer Lisa McNiel

Rory came over from Plano West for Senior Portraits. I'm no sure how her mom found me, but she wanted a variety of shots because she was planning to use them as inspiration for an artist they had met on vacation to paint a large mural.

Her mom called Rory a "fearless child, always advanced in her physical ability. As a young child she loved baking so much that we had her take private baking lessons and she entered several baking competitions. When she outgrew baking  she got into sports. She competed in triathlons for a couple of years and also played basketball." She loves hanging out with friends and listening to rap music. Rory loves adventure and  is excited to be independent this year living on her own in Austin. She's the oldest child and has a younger sister and brother.

Rory's favorite quote is "Where you are is not who you are," and her favorite candy is sour gummy bears.

Rory chose a romper and red heels, a long button down romper which she paired with my hat, a black sweater over a yellow tank with ripped jeans, her graduation gown, and my white corset with blue satin skirt.

Guitar-playing Baseball Star from Grapevine Faith - Senior Pictures

tall handsome teen in suit city urban setting

I'm celebrating St. Patrick's Day by posting an O'Donnell! Trennor is, by far, the tallest high school senior I've ever photographed. It's been a year since I met him and his gorgeous mom in Grapevine for his photo session, and as she and I chatted about his faith in God, and love of baseball,  their life in Southlake and their happiness with Grapevine Faith Christian Academy, I learned that he's an excellent student and wants to become a surgeon!

At the end, she helped me load my equipment into the car and mentioned that he had uploaded an 8 second video of himself pitching to a baseball site on Twitter and it had exploded. I went and looked up @Trennor_9 on twitter and it had 48,500 views and counting!

After that, he was literally being scouted by professional teams as a senior in high school. He settled on playing as #44 for Ball State Baseball!

One of the best things about my job is the encounters I have with families who give me hope for the future. Best wishes to Trennor and his family!

Country boys, cars and trains - Senior Pictures by Dallas Photographer

Need ideas for how to pose and take pictures of a country boy for his senior photos? How about by a vintage truck, with his reflection in a roll up window or rearview mirror?

Or if you have access to an old train station like this one in Grapevine, Texas, he can pose on the steps, or near a roughhewn fence!

Maybe there's even a train car on a dead track that is no longer in use so you all are safe and he can use it as a huge prop. Just be true to who he is and show him off at his best so all of you will be able to remember and celebrate this time in his life even when he's an old man, reminiscing about his youth.

Is it Too Late to get Senior Pictures? - Yes and No by Dallas Photographer Lisa McNiel

Lillian's mom called me in the busiest month I think I've ever had. I only schedule two photoshoots a week because I spend time planning, preparing, talking to clients, culling and editing photos, doing Viewing and Ordering sessions, designing albums, ordering product, etc. etc. In April of this year, more than twice the number of high school seniors and their moms contacted me to do photos than I had space for.

One mom asked me to put her on a cancellation list and I did. When I had a client who accidentally booked two dates, I gave her a call, hoping she hadn't booked somewhere else yet because I like the girls and moms who had recommended me to her, and I've learned that's a good sign!

We did her photos and it was just such a fun, sunny session. I loved their adventurous attitude.

Here is the "YES" and the "NO" to that question.

YES-

When you're 40 years old, I can't get good Senior pics of you, no matter what shape you're in and how much you've stayed out of the sun. I can get great "Rocking Life at 40" photos, and that is truly what you want and need at that point. But the ship has sailed on senior photos.

Also, if you book the following Summer or even during college, you obviously won't be using those pictures on your Announcements or Thank you cards, if that's all you wanted them for. My kids' senior albums and canvas wraps will be on my walls and coffee table for as long as I can picture because it's so much more than that.

NO-

So what if you missed the 3 week deadline for ordering announcements before graduation. In this age of the internet, the timing doesn't matter as much as getting it done! Having said that... Why Are You Booking So Late? Please book your photos in the Summer or Fall before your senior year. You aren't going to look that different, and you won't be any less busy in a few months. If you book early enough you'll be able to use some professional photos in your yearbook ad before the deadline, and you'll have the whole thing crossed off your To-Do list.

Flower Mound Locations for Senior Pictures

We did portraits in my home studio before heading to Parker Square and the Riverwalk.

Sarah and her mom are super close and have the sweetest bond. This is what her mom had to say about her...

Sarah attended FMHS and was a Rosette for 4 years and an officer her senior year. She loved to dance! Now she’s off to the University of North Florida in Jacksonville to pursue a degree in Exercise Science. She wants to get her doctorate in Physical Therapy. She has the sweetest story about how she met her boyfriend. Ask her to tell you the story! He’s the most amazing guy!

Senior Pictures Grapevine Faith - by Flower Mound Photographer Lisa McNiel

Caroline's mom had these sweet things to say about her precious girl!

Caroline is beautiful, brilliant, and has a heart of gold. She loves all things girly, a good book, and gourmet coffee. She has been a breeze to raise, and being her parents has been pure joy. We can’t wait to watch her soar!

She chose an inside/out session in my home studio and in Denton. Her emerald green satin and velvet prom gown, maroon high-low formal with a train, tan and black sweater with floppy hat, skinny jeans and boots,  and black sweater mini-dress and high boots,. We had a great time, and I'm so happy the Grapevine Faith senior chose me for her senior session! She's off at college now and I'm catching up on blogging!
