You would think it would be a lot easier to take photos of your friends and their families, but... there's so much PRESSURE!
Fortunately, I have darling friends. :-)
Lisa's parents were celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary and had never had family photos made. They were visiting from Tennessee and so we set up an appointment. I think her dad thought we were just going outside for a Polaroid because after the first three minutes he said, "Are we done yet?" haha! He was such a pistol!!! So funny. Her mom is a Steel Magnolia, elegant and Southern lovely. Its an honor to meet and photograph these generations. It's worth remembering...

The Zinda Family
Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family: Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.
-- Jane Howard
My family is a little messy... with socks, with time; the unevenness of an odd number (5) contributes to the messy mindset I think. So I'm always curious when families show up to see how they are interacting. Did one linger too long with the eyelash curler or come out with the wrong shoes and it made everyone late? Is it like trying to get everyone pretty and to church on time? Or is their world in sync?
The Zindas were early, calm, relaxed, coordinated, lovely to work with. That and their great bone structure and coloring made my job easy!

Ryan and Katherine
She is marrying Ryan, her high school guy, her true love... and they will have a military life which inevitably involves moving. But for this day, the members of her church who watched this little girl grow up in the nursery and Vacation Bible School... to then teach in the nursery and Vacation Bible School will gather to give their little girl away, to trust her to this man who adores her. Her best friend will dance with a dad who lost sleep when these little girls giggled too late. Her mom will help her on with her dress. Her niece will look at her like she is a princess. Her brother-in-law will pray with the groomsmen before he performs the ceremony. I'm so glad they have pictures of it all. (tear)

My daughter, Anna-Marie McNiel, was my second shooter, and several of my favorite photos in this group were by her. :-)
