Beautiful Grapevine Senior Allison Lewis by photographer Lisa McNiel

Coram Deo Academy senior Allison Lewis told me she liked sundresses and jeans, had a laid-back style and seemed very casual before the shoot.  I have dramatic dresses and outfits for girls who want to add a little flair to their Senior Session, but I took her lead and didn't bring any of them, and then she shows up looking like this...

Wow!  So polished and sophisticated!  And I couldn't help but notice her tremendously shapely and athletic legs.  I felt like BBC's Sherlock Holmes when I asked her what sport she played.

It turns out she is both a gymnast and has played Volleyball.  She is looking at Baylor University next year and from the terrific girls I know who go there, she will be a perfect fit. She will probably use some of these images for sorority RUSH in the very active Greek system there!

Her family lives near Lake Grapevine and they have many a family memory on the water and in this little cove so we included it in our shoot so her children can see show she spent her free time growing up. :)

Southlake Senior pictures by photographer Lisa McNiel

When I was in college, my last name appeared in the paper misspelled.  My maiden name is Berwick, but it was spelled Benwick.  That became my new defacto name to my Youth Pastor and some "friends" and some who honestly thought that was my name.

I accidentally spelled Hannah "Hananah" and now I affectionately call her that in my mind and out loud each and every time.

Hananah is that rare green-eyed, red-haired beauty that makes you think you want to visit Scotland and cuddle under a blanket with popcorn and watch Merida conquer stereotypes and bears in "Brave."  Her close-ups are arresting... but there is a full-length image of her that I liked so much I started a new line of products inspired by it.  It is printed on fine art watercolor paper with deckled edges, framed in my living room.

Gorgeous Faith Christian School Senior by Photographer Lisa McNiel

On a warm 70 degree day in January, a beautiful brunette with a big warm smile and sparkling blue eyes showed up at my home for pictures.  We got right to work choosing outfits and making plans for what she might want and as I "read" Julia's personality I could tell she would be game for a little drama, so I pulled out one of my tulle skirts.

We started chatting about what she was doing in school and what she wanted to do as a career and discovered we had so much in common.  She is a singer and loves musical theatre, and is thinking about majoring in Broadcast journalism.  My undergraduate degree was in vocal music and I loved doing musicals.  I worked in television and ending up getting a masters in Mass Communication. (Sorry, I don't mean to make this about me)

I hope you can see from her photos how she brought her own ideas  and was fun to work with!

But you know what is absolutely lovely about this girl?  Her humility, her warmth, her ability to say something positive about everyone, her interest in others.  And as her pictures went up on Facebook, that is what others commented on as well.  I would love to hear her sing as I suspect she is superb, but better than that, I really just enjoyed spending time with her.
