Denton Senior Pictures for Girls including How to Prepare by Dallas Senior Photographer Lisa McNiel

Laura goes to Billy Ryan High School in Denton, Texas. She likes anything by Bob Dylan and the song "Memory" from the musical "Cats." She's a super smartie pants headed for UT Austin in the Fall. Laura likes to shop at Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe, enjoys seeing movies and eating popcorn, taking care of her goats, watching the Spurs play and vacationing in California.

Laura chose the "Senioritis" session at a local park, and we got so many wonderful images I just had to blog her shoot!

Her favorite quote is "You aren't learning anything when you're talking." Lyndon B. Johnson

Here are some tips for how to prepare for Senior Portraits:

1. Choose clothes that are flattering to you and your figure and coloring regardless of what is in style... If you don't look your best in white jeans. Don't wear them. If the top is completely shapeless and you have a small waist, for heaven's sake, find something fitted, but not super tight to where your underwear shows.

2. Check your fingernails! Make sure they are clean or painted. Chipped fingernail polish looks terrible.

3. Don't tan too much or get a burn before your photos.

4. Your hair will need to move, so even though it may be curled or straightened, it will eventually "fall." Relax and go with it. Movement in hair is beautiful!

5. Bring props that reflect your interests or those you used to enjoy, or plan to major in. You can be creative! If you want to travel the world, bring a globe!

6. Bring more clothes than you think you need. Put the outfits together and get a ziplock bag and put any jewelry, special underwear, or lipstick into in that bag and poke a hole in it and hook it onto the hanger. Time is precious when the light is pretty, and changing needs to be quick!

7. Bring a strapless bra. Bra straps are nearly impossible to photoshop.

8. Hats make great props. You can wear them, play with them, pose with them. Try to bring a hat for at least one outfit.

9. Take the black ponytail holder that is always around your left wrist off before we start shooting your session! Hahahahahaha!

Shawn Robinson - 6A Texas State Championship Quarterback heading to TCU - Senior Pictures in Downtown Fort Worth by Photographer Lisa McNiel

Shawn is obviously an athlete, but I discovered from spending time with him that he likes to be creative and different. He told me he likes to defy stereotypes, laugh and have a lot of fun. If he has to describe himself in one word, it would be "Innovative."

He loves to play and laugh and did so with his mom and little brother on the shoot. Since he will be playing for TCU this year, he is still eating, breathing and sleeping FOOTBALL, but he enjoys basketball and skateboarding as well. His buddy had borrowed his skateboard so we didn't have one for the senior session. But then his mom spotted a guy on a skateboard and we all started yelling to him. Haha! We probably scared him, but he was great about it and let us borrow it for a few pictures.

In Shawn's free time he likes to listen to music, play video games, watch "House" on TV and do a lot of hanging out with friends. His style is a combination of some sweet name brands that his doting grandfather buys for him and Vintage Shopping, and no surprise, his favorite memory is winning the 6A state football championship for the great state of Texas!

Here are a few of the stats on what Shawn was able to accomplish in high school:
Four-star recruit by 247Sports.com ... named the 2016-17 Gatorade Texas Player of the Year ... selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl ... ranked as the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback recruit in Texas and No. 7 in the nation ... listed by Scout.com as the No. 19 overall player in Texas and No. 116 nationally ... threw for 3,416 yards and 28 touchdowns and ran for 1,439 yards and 19 touchdowns in leading DeSoto to its first state championship in 2016 ... selected as the Offensive Most Valuable Player in the title game ... named the District 5-6A Co-Offensive MVP as a junior at Denton Guyer High School ... recorded 79 total touchdowns during his two years there ... named the District 5-6A Overall MVP in 2014 ... garnered AP and Texas Sportswriters Association (TSWA) Class 6A honorable-mention all-state honors as a sophomore ... chose TCU over Alabama, Ohio State, USC, LSU, Michigan, Baylor, Texas, Texas A and ;M, Oklahoma State and UCLA.

Senior Pictures for a Garland Girl in Highland Village by Dallas Photographer Lisa McNiel

Natalie and her mom and I had a  crazy session that started at a park, and while my weather app read clear skies, we were getting soaked! So we headed over to the Shops of Highland Village so we could duck under awnings and between buildings because they had traveled a way and it was difficult to reschedule. The resulting energy made her session so. much. fun! We ended it with her running barefoot through a fountain in the rain.

Her mom contacted me for Sorority Rush pictures when her daughter's look had changed from when she had senior pictures done and wanted updated photos. Natalie enjoys jamming out to music in her car with her friends. She's a cheerleader for Naaman Forest High School in Garland, and  loves to swim, shop, hang out with family and go on adventures. Her favorite memory is when her peers nominated her for Homecoming Queen, and favorite quote is "Don't take life too seriously, you'll never make it out alive!"

Hebron High School Senior Pictures by Dallas Fort Worth Photographer Lisa McNiel

In her own words, Caroline Coker is pretty casual, she loves being comfortable and the boho look and style. She really likes wearing bright colors (especially when it's warm.) Her favorite songs right now are Russ - "Losing Control" "Titanic," Kkyle - "When Can We," and Blackbear - "4U."

She is a charismatic girl who plays softball for her school, and sports in general, an athlete who enjoys working out, yoga, and being with friends. She's very close to her family of all brothers, and they stay tight by worshipping together in their Catholic faith.

Her favorite memory is going to Playoffs as a freshman at Hebron High School and the experience of playing on Varsity Softball as a freshman. Her favorite quote is "Don't cry that it's over. Smile because it happened!"

Bring Your Guitar and Your Dog for Senior Pictures - by DFW Photographer Lisa McNiel

Coldplay is what Marcus High School Senior, Zach, likes to listens to when he's not playing tennis or guitar, hanging out with friends or his girlfriend, or working on National Honor Society activities. But in his limited free time, he can mostly be found at the gym, the tennis court, or with a guitar in his hands. We included his guitar in his senior pictures and one of those because my favorite, as musicians change when they get their favorite instrument in their hands. We also included his sweet dog, Lily as one of his favorite memories in life is when they got her when they lived in Canada.

Guyer High School Senior Pictures for Girls by Highland Village Photographer Lisa McNiel

Oh my goodness, how can you not love someone like Kaitlyn Carter? Her favortie personality trait is being nice to people and making them smile, and her favorite quote is "In a world where you can be anything, be kind."

Kaitlyn spends most of her after school time working in a boutique, in several school clubs and horseback riding, and for fun she likes to hang out with friends, read, and take her dog to the park.

We did a "Model for a Day" session with Guyer High School's Kaitlyn so she had tons of photos to choose from, in her prom dress, with signs from Texas A and M, a Texas flag, and several of her favorite outfits. These are a few of my many favorites!
