Bride on a horse - Victoria

Victoria knew exactly where she wanted to have her bridal portraits taken... her "thinking spot" a thirty minute hike into an area surrounding Grapevine Lake just North of DFW.  While I appreciate the symbolism and specialness of the locale, I could not help but think of the logistics of hauling lots of camera and back-up gear and then a bride wearing a wedding dress, and losing an hour round trip of pretty picture-taking time....

She was a little disappointed so I started asking about other interests, almost immediately she squealed, "I'm going to have them taken on a horse!"

Honestly, I was nervous... and with good reason!  The guys bringing the trailer to the park got lost... THREE TIMES.  And I wasn't sure what the horse would do, but in the end, she was right!  I'm so glad we got these shots of beautiful Victoria and her beautiful beast. :-)

Aaron

Aaron

So, when I asked his mom about what we wanted to do with Aaron's shoot, I had some ideas...
Do we want to feature his athletic ability in soccer?
His great grades?
Or... just those impossible good looks the Fitzgerald boys share?

She said, "I guess I would want to show his faith and his desire to work in the medical field."
I don't feel humbled when people act like they're better than I am... I feel humbled when people are genuinely humble, like Aaron's mom, Cindy.
PS.  These are just a few of the pictures.  She still can't hide how handsome this dark-haired, blue-eyed son is!

Don't be scared of your engagement pictures!

Ryan and Mallory were nervous, biting their lips, second-guessing the whole idea of being able to actually get a photo... just one... together, that was good of both of them.  They had seen that as an improbability verging on impossibility and I was getting caught up in the doubt!

I thought, "What do they do?  Make faces?  Talk?  Blink repeatedly?  Why can't they get a good photo together?"

If you are feeling this way, relax, shake it out, remember that you will be together!  Hire a friendly photographer who is at LEAST as interested in people as she is taking pictures. Bring along a few outfits... Guys, shave.  Girls, get cute and bring back-up make-up, at least powder for sweat and lip gloss.

There was NO reason to worry... as you can see for yourself. :-)
