How do you plan a magical surprise proposal? First, you convince your girlfriend that you're two states away watching a movie with friends. Then you contact her friend to get her all dressed up and looking cute and get her to the location to "help a photographer out with her portfolio". Third, you ask your mom to set up a champagne picnic table and scatter rose petals on a private area by a lake that carries shared memories. Fourth, you ask your jeweler father to design you a beautiful ring.

Nick Fitzgerald was indeed in his senior year of playing football for the Air Force Academy last Spring, when he decided to make his proposal creative and memorable when popping the question to his love, Hailey. But he wasn't in Colorado watching a movie. He was in Texas helping his mom and brother set up a once-in-a-lifetime moment... And this is how it all went down.
